Grievance Redressal
India has seen a systematic transition from being a closed to an open economy since the beginning of economiIn order to facilitate speedy redressal of grievances of trade and industry, a grievance redressal mechanism has been put in place in the form of grievance redressal committees. DGFT has in place a Citizen’s Charter, giving time schedules for providing services to clients, and details of grievance committees at different levels.
The Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) headed by the Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce assists by facilitating speedy redressal of grievances of trade and industry particularly to exporters and importers.
Aggrieved parties may send their grievance to the Committee in electronic form, besides all other normal mode that is to be addressed to the Committee’s Chairman. The application must contain the name of the applicant (aggrieved party), IEC No., address (with contact Nos, and e-mail ID), the details of reference earlier made to DGFT, if any and the grounds in support of grievance, in brief.
There are also other redressal committees headed by DGFT in Headquarters and by the Jt. DGFT’s i.e. Regional Authorities at all the regional offices for redressal of grievance of trade and industry.The Government is committed to resolving all outstanding problems and disputes pertaining to past policy periods through GRC, for condoning delays, regularizing breaches by exporters in bonafide cases, resolving disputes over entitlements, granting extensions for utilization of Authorisations.
